CHENNAI, AUG 14 :Punjab and Cricket Federation of India recorded their second successive victories on the second day of the National Inter-State Under-15 Cricket Tournament being organized by Cricket Federation of Tamil Nadu under the patronage of CFI at the Maya Jaal Stadium here today.
Brilliant knocks by top scorer Arshdeep (57), all-rounder Sumit Hooda (37) and Hitesh Kumar (35) helped CFI outplay Hyderabad by 54 runs. Batting first CFI scored an impressive score of 139 for 4. In reply Hyderabad could muster only 87 for 8, with Rayan scoring a defiant 46. CFI bowlers Ashish Roy (3 for 10), M Naveen (2 for 21) and Sumit Hooda (2 for 7) restricted Hyderabad’s total to 87 for 8. Arshdeep was declared Man of the Match.
Punjab snatched an exciting eight-run victory over Tamil Nadu in a rain-curtailed match. Batting first Punjab scored 124 for 7 in 15 overs. Jaideep Bose and Siddharth were their main scorers with contribution of 30 and 25 runs, respectively. Bhavick (2 for 23) and Pavan (2 for 21) were the most successful bolwers for Tamil Nadu.
Chasing a victory target of 125, Tamil Nadu were bowled out for 116 in 14.3 overs. Purjith (38) and Bhavick Thukrel (29) were TN’s main scorers. Anish (3 for 22), Sharanjit Singh (3 for 9) and Siddharth (2 for 13) bowled and paved the way for Punjab’s hard-fought win.
Gurkirat (3 for 14) and Davinder Chauhan (2 for 5) wrecked Pudicherry with their controlled bowling as Chandigarh began their campaign with a 80-run victory in their opening match.
Facing a victory target of 130 set by Chandigarh, Pudicherry were skittle out for 80 runs. Earlier, Chandigarh made 129 for 6 in allotted 25 overs. Sahil Sharma, who was declared man of the match, topscored with 48. Manual Jain and Chetan Rawat contributed 16 and 15 runs, respectively.
