Sikkim,May 16:In Sikkim, the people reiterated their pledge to work unitedly and vigorously for all round progress of the state and the country on its 33rd state day today. It was on this day in 1975, the earstwhile kingdom embraced democracy and join the Indian Union as its 22nd state following the 38th amendment of the constitution.
Addressing a function to mark the occasion in Gangtok today, the Chief Minister Mr. pawan Chamling paid his glowing tribute to Late L.D.Kazi Kangserpa, the first chief minister of the Indian state of Sikkim. He said, Sikkim has made tremendous progress after joining the Indian Union. Earlier, the Chief Minister unveiled the life size statue of L.D.Kazi Kangserpa, Sikkim’s father of democracy.
