Jaipur,May 24:In Rajasthan, atleast eight more persons have been killed and over 50 injured, including several policemen in fresh violence during the agitation by the Gujjars.
The Police resorted to firing at Sikandra in Dausa district on Jaipur-Agra National highway when agitators turned violent during their Rasta Roko Agitation. Army was been deployed in Sikandara this afternoon after the violence. With this the death toll in the violence and police firing in the State since yesterday has gone up to 25. Agitators also torched two buses in Sikar and Bundi districts today.
Army has already been deployed in Bayana, Karoli and Hindaun towns after the clashes between the Police and Gurjjar agitators. Agitators are continuing their dharna and are holding bodies of those killed in yesterday’s violence and police firing. Gurjjar leader Col. Kirodi Singh Bainsala is also with them.
Several towns in Bhilwara, Alwar, Baran and Ajmer districts observed bandh today. Agitators have blocked some roads and traffic has been stopped on Jaipur, Agra and Jaipur Kota highways. Delhi-Mumbai rail route is also disturbed and trains are diverted. Northern Railway cancelled six trains including August Kranti Rajdhani Express from Hazrat Nizamuddin to Mumbai Central and Dehradoon-Bandra Express. New Delhi-Mumbai Central Rajdhani, Paschim Express, Goa Samparak Kranti Express and Swaraj Express to Mumbai have been diverted. The Golden Temple express and Ferozpur-Mumbai Janata Express are terminated short of destination.
District Collectors of Bharatpur and Karauli districts have been transfered.Courtsey: AIR
