Jaipur : A massive halt in traffic paralyzed major parts of Jaipur on Thursday morning during an Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangha (RSS)-backed ‘chakka jam’ against demolition of temples for Metro in the Pink City. The areas in Chandpole, Gangouri Bazar, Johari Bazar saw a total clamp during two hours of the ‘chakka jam’.
While BJP MLAs Shri. Narpat Singh Rajvi, Shri. Ghanshyam Tiwari and Shri. Surendra Pareek participated in the ‘chakka jam’ along with Hindu volunteers at various points in the city, the antagonists to BJP branded the programme as a diversion of public mind from the whirlwind of ‘LalitGate‘ waged to the Rajasthan CM, Smt. Vasundhara Raje. The secularists so far are hurling their points over the conflict between ‘development and the religious pragmatism’.
More or less 85-location strike, which started at 9 am and concluded two hours later, left the major commuting routes of the city gasping for breath till late afternoon. The Rajasthan Mandir Bachao Sangharsh Samiti, which has the full backing of the the Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Bajrangdal and other Organisations affiliated to RSS, gave a seven-day ultimatum to the state government to accept its key demands, failing which it threatened to launch a state-wide agitation further.
The agitators shouted slogans: “Mandir todne ka apmaan, nehin sahega Rajasthan“… The rajasthan people cannot tolerate the desecration and demolition of temples.
