As the ruling SAD –BJP Govt. in Punjab has taken a concern of the role of drug mafia in Punjab as the main factor of their defeat in Punjab and the Chief Minister S.Parkash Singh Badal has issued strict directions to take drastic steps to curb the drug-mafia in the State. The Sehajdhari Sikh Party has welcomed the move and hailed the decision of the Chief Minister against the Drug Mafia.
Dr.Paramjeet Singh Ranu the National President of the Sehajdhari Sikh Party said that during the last twenties at one time the Punjab State reached a verge to end due to terrorism and now the young generation is at the verge to end due to this drug terrorism by which the people of Punjab are feeling in-secured alike those dark days of terrorism. He appealed the State Govt. to take stern action against the drug mafia as it used to take during terrorism.
Dr.Ranu appealed the Chief Minister S.Parkash Singh Badal to be cautious and aware so that no innocent is dragged into this war against drugs as in villages the people are many times bent upon vendetta politics and mis-use the Police to take revenge against their personal enemies for vested interest.
He also suggested that the role of Halqua incharges should be kept under surveillance by the intelligence department and their direct interference should be stopped in such cases.
He said that during terrorism in Punjab the then Chief Minister S.Beant Singh was very strict against his own team leaders and no MLA was allowed to interfere in the procedure of law against the culprits. That was the reason why terrorism was very speedily snubbed as these leaders only shield the culprits for their political motives. Similarly to curb the drug terrorism S. Badal has to be strict against the Halqua in-charges whose so ever is involved with the drug mafia.
Dr.Ranu said his Sehajdhari Sikh Party is very much concerned about this drug terrorism and is ready to support the State Govt. by all means to end this curse for the sake of young generation. He also appealed all the political parties to come forward and join the Govt. to fight the war of drug terrorism jointly without any self interest to save the future potential of Punjab.
