Ludhiana : Democracy is a better system but this is also true it does not exist in any country of the world today. The system of rule that is present in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh etc, is not democracy but an election-illusion based aristocracy. Here an illusion is created that people are the real masters and they elect the government of the day but it is a reality that they are devoid of any rights and they are duped. A day is selected as the Election Day in the full span of five years (1825 days) when the people have to exercise their right of vote to elect the government and this day is given the form of a trick, a festival. By employing the heavy publicity and propaganda, this day is converted into a sensation like the World Cricket Cup. Billions of rupees are flown like water. Liquor, narcotics, money is distributed lavishly. The poor of the country who are turned so helpless and desperate that they even queue up for a cheaper cup of tea and a few cooked gram seeds; are flooded with costly liquor. Wheat flour, pulses, television sets, fridges and even motorcycles are distributed. This way after spending crores of rupees, a wrongful and shrewd leader sits into power like a dictator for full five years and he snatches all the rights of people, indulges into corruption and fills his coffers to the full. The people land in a situation worse even than the previous one. Every five years this drama is enacted and an ordinary 60 years living Indian breathes his last after witnessing such 8-10 such enactments. This is the reason that the plight of people has deteriorated even after 70 years of independence.
This system is not a democracy. At least as dreamed of by great founders of democracy like Rousseau, Voltaire, Lincoln etc, this is nowhere near to it. In a true democracy, the true power should always reside with the people in an uninterrupted way and all the leaders and officers should act true servants and obedient to people. Whoever snatches people’s rights, spreads corruptions and ignores them, the people should have the right to question him and if not satisfied with his reply, then they should be empowered enough to replace him with a new one. This system in which people are the ultimate rulers and masters of their destinies, is the true democracy or Sarv Sanjha Raaj.
In the world of technology of today, every citizen should be given an identity card like an ordinary VISA or Master card or the banks should be asked to upload such a technology like the ATM cards or the mobile companies can be asked such like the booking of a gas refill to assign a particular code (PIN) to every adult voter so that he uses this to change any government or leader out of power or replace it with the new one if it indulges into corruption or acts anti-people in any way.
The times of today has witnessed the people getting disenchanted with the recently elected governments in a span of few months only after elections in countries like Egypt, Greece, Spain etc due to the anti-people character of their governments. In such a time we can present an example to emulate by the world and raise India’s status as the world intellectual guru once again.
