By Nadeem Ansari, Ludhiana: Sankaracharya of Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam, Jayendra Saraswati would be special guest during a social gathering at Jalandhar on March 28. His night stay would be at Ludhiana on March 27.
Sources told that Sankaracharya would be participating in the Nanhi Chaan programme being held against the menace of female foeticide at Jalandhar on March 28. The programme is to be held under the supervision of Harsimrat Kaur Badal, MP from Bathinda. It may be mentioned here that Harsimrat kaur Badal had also appealed to the religious leaders to extend their support for the social cause. Following this appeal, Sankaracharya is coming to attend the Nanhi Chaan programme. According to sources, Sankaracharya would appeal to people belonging to different religions during the function to come forward united against the social menace of female foeticide.
Sources told that Sankaracharya had also planned with various organisations to participate in few religious functions.
Sankaracharya is likely to arrive by air at Ludhiana a day before the function to be held at Jalandhar on March 28. He would stay during night at the residence of leading industrialist and social worker Rakesh Mehra on March 27. Representatives of religious organisations and Saints would get blessings from Sankaracharya during his stay at Ludhiana. Besides, many industrialists, social workers and members of NGOs would visit to Sankaracharya for seeking his blessings. The Mehra family, known for largely participating in the religious functions, has planned to arrange a `bhoj’ ceremony on the occasion. As such, people would get a chance to receive special `prasad’ from Sankaracharya.
