The ruling Shiromani Akali Dal in Punjab on Sunday released its third list of 10 candidates for the 30th January state assembly election, the SAD will contest 94 assembly seats leaving 23 for its ally BJP.
SAD general secretary Prem Singh Chandumajra’s name figures in the third list and he will contest from Fatehgarh Sahib constituency.
The party has so far announced candidates for 73 seats in the 117-member assembly. The SAD will contest 94 assembly seats leaving 23 for its ally BJP.
Names of 21 more party contestants will be announced shortly, SAD chief and Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal said.
The SAD has already announced the names of Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and his Deputy Sukhbir Badal who will seek re-election from Lambi and Jalalabad respectively.
The third list also contains names of Daljeet Singh Cheema (Ropar), Sarwan Singh Phillaur (Kartarpur SC), Avinash Chander (Phillaur SC), Jathedar Des Raj (Sri Hargobindpur Sahib SC), Satinder Kaur Kariha (Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar – Nawanshehar), Hakim Singh Giaspura (Ludhiana South), Mahesh Inder Singh Nihalsinghwala (Bagha Purana), Jagdeep Singh Cheema (Amloh) and Justice (retd) Nirmal Singh (Bassi Pathana SC).
On 29th December, the SAD had expelled from the party Balwinder Singh Bains, its candidate from the Ludhiana South constituency, along with his brother Simarjit Singh Bains for alleged anti-party activities.
