KHANNA, January 20: Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee President Capt Amarinder Singh today said that the Shiromani Akali Dal and the People’s Party of Punjab had a secret understanding and the two parties were working together to mutually facilitate the victory of Mr Parkash Singh Badal and Manpreet Badal from Lambi and Gidderbaha respectively.
Addressing a well attended public rally in support of the party candidate Gurkirat Singh Kotli here today, he said, Mr Badal’s younger brother Mr Gurdas Badal will soon feign some illness and get admitted to some hospital and leave the field open in Lambi for his brother to acknowledge the favour done to him in Gidderbaha by Mr Badal by not fielding any Akali from there. The Akali candidate from Gidderbaha is a Congress rebel, he pointed out.
However, the PCC President asserted that both the Badals will get defeated from Lambi and Gidderbaha as people had already seen through their tacit understanding and they were now trying to fool the public.
Lashing out at the Akali-BJP government in the state for its complete failure, Capt Amarinder asked the Deputy Chief Minister in particular to spell out which development he has carried out and where. He asked Sukhbir, “do you think that people don’t know that the bullet trains you are showing in advertisements are not from Punjab but from Japan and the skyscrapers are from Manhattan in US ?”
He reminded Mr Badal and Sukhbir about the promises of turning Punjab into a California. “But what we have got is the neglected cities which are turning into slums”, he said, while adding, the state government during the last five years had not improved the infrastructure in any way. He said, Punjab needs proper and planned urbanization as by 2022 there will be more people living in cities than in villages.
Spelling out his agenda, he said, providing jobs to 47 lakh unemployed people, bringing in industry and investment, improving health and education system and reviving agriculture will be his top most priority. He said, Punjab was bankrupt today and the debt was multiplying in an alarming proportion. “It is the issue of life and death for Punjab and it is all in your hands whether you want to save Punjab or not”, he told people while seeking their vote and support for the Congress.
Anandpur Sahib MP Mr Ravneet Bittu and former minister Mr Tej Parkash were also present on the occasion.
