Chandigarh, March 15 : Following an assurance by animal husbandry minister Gulzar Singh Ranike to a deputation of punjab state veterinary officers association led by its president Dr Ashok Sharma, which met him here today , punjab vets have decided to postpone the hunger strike proposed to start on 15th March in protest against the delay in notifying non practising allowance (NPA) to their cadre .Mr Ranike said that punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal had approved the grant of NPA to the vets after thorough discussion and due deliberations in this regard and taking into consideration recommendation of 5th punjab pay commission. He assured the delegation to impress upon the government to issue NPA notification soon, so that simmering discontent among cadre of vets could be arrested.Dr Sharma said that on assurance of minister , their body has decided to defer hunger strike.
Prominent among others present in the delegation were Dr Sukhdev Singh Gen. Secy., Dr Nitin Kumar , Dr Desh Deepak ,Dr K S Kler and Dr JK Chopra.
