Chandigarh, May 29: With a view to evaluate the implementation of the Anti-Tobacco Laws and activities regarding educating the people about the ill-effects of Tabacco and other Tabacco products in the State, the Punjab government has constituted a state level Tabacco Control Committee and district level Tobacco Control Committees.
Disclosing this here today a spokesman of Punjab government said that Principle Secretary, Health and Family Welfare Punjab will be the Chairman of Sate level Committee and Managing Director NRHM Punjab will be its vice Chairman. State Nodal Officer, O/o District Health & Family Welfare, Punjab will be member Secretary. Other members of the Committee will be Director General of Police Punjab, Director Local Bodies Punjab, Director Education Punjab, Director Tourism Punjab, Director Prosecution & Litigation Punjab, Director Public Relations Punjab, Director of Factories, Punjab.
The Chairman of District Tambacco Control Committees will be the Deputy Commissioner of the district and the members of Committees will be Civil Surgeon of the district, District Health Officer/ Drug Inspector (Department of Health) and District Education Officer, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), District Attorney, District Local Bodies Officer, District Public Relations Officer, and District Labour Commissioner. Three Youth Leaders, Three Activists and three Religious personalities will be non official members of these committees, the spokesman added.
