KAPURTHALA, JUNE 20:Holders Chattisgarh will lock horns with Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh will challenge Tamil Nadu in the girls semi-finals of the 35th Sub-Junior National Basketball Championship being played at Sainik School courts here.
Delhi are pitted against Uttar Pradesh and defending champions Punjab will face Chattisgarh in the boys semi-final fixtures.Last year’s runners-up Chattisgarh outplayed Tamil Nadu by 53-23 in the boys quarter-final encounter. The quarter-wise scores were 24-9,38-13, 45-19, 53-23. The main architects of Chattisgarh’s facile win were Ajay Patak (20), Murali (15) and Jaia (10) who gave a harrowing time to their opponents. For Tamil Nadu, Vishnu (4), Gautam (4) and Purasnath (5) were the main scorers.
Uttar Pradesh displayed their class against Jharkhand whom they beat by 60-36 (quarter-wise scores 6-13, 22-23, 33–28, 60-36). Lalit and Kumar Shantanu displayed good form to baseket 14 points each for UP. Aman Singh (6) and Gourav (4) were their other main scorers. For Jharkhand, Akash Nayak (12), Nitesh (4) and Amit (10) were their other main scorers.
Playing before the home crowd, Punjab outplayed Maharashtra in a one-sided match by 68-31 (quarter-wise scores 12-7, 35-9, 47-15, 68-31). For Punjab, Kushmeet top-scored with 25 points. Loveneet (9), Money Pal (3), Gagandeep (4) and Sameer Sen (9) were their other main contributors. For Maharashtra, Saleem (14) and Qureshi (11) were the main scorers.
In the last quarter-final, Delhi ousted Rajasthan by 53-22 (13-5, 5-9,17-6,18-12). Narender (22), Hemant (12), Surender (4) and Amit (4) served Delhi well. For Rajasthan, Rakesh (10), Devinder (10) and Surjit (4) were main scorers.
