Chandigarh: Punjab BJP chief Sh.Kamal Sharma has said that state would start an awareness campaign against drugs soon in Punjab, as the issue is not only related with the problem of law and order but is also directly linked with the nation’s unity and diversity.
In a statement issued here from party headquarters , Sharma hailed Prime Minister Narender Modi’s speech in his radio programme, “Man Ki Baat” on Sunday and appreciated his concern raised for the state of Punjab where the issue of drugs have become a menace.
He thanked the Prime Minister for recognizing Punjab’s plight in his priority and assured that the state unit of the party would rope in all power to aware the public on this issue and join Centre’s hand in eradicating this menace.
“The PM has rightly said that it’s not a menace but its terrorism of drugs. On sidelines of the efforts put in by the governments to end this menace, it has become a duty of the society has well to raise voice against this terrorism that was engulfing our future generations and were forcing their families to live a life of a hell. Punjab BJP would do this awareness to bring all the society on one forum in this fight,” said Sharma.
He also exhorted statement by the Prime Minister that in a border state like Punjab the issue becomes of more significance as the enemies are roping in full power to spread the drugs to ruin our generation. “Modi ji has rightly said that involvement of drug trade is not less than any sin as it besides ruining our generations it provides strengthen to the forces that are working against our country. The existence of such persons cannot be compromised at all. Under the leadership of Modi ji, our party would not let that happen anymore in Punjab,” said the BJP chief.
Soon, the state BJP would launch a campaign that would make effort to aware the entire Punjab on this issue of national importance, he said, while assuring that the BJP was committed to play an active role of the issue and making Punjab and drug free state.
