Bathinda ,Dr.Avnish Jolly , 18 Oct : The Local unit of Revolutionary Youth Association (RYA), Punjab today held a demonstration at Mall road Bathinda, to protest against the large scale shunting of employees by IT, real estate, finance and aviation industry.
The members of the organization raised slogans and displayed posters saying that the present crisis is a direct result of the integration of Indian economy with US which the rulers are busy proving as the only method of ‘development’ and that the Capitalism has failed to provide a solution to the inherent crisis.
Gurpreet Singh, president of Bathinda unit of the RYA, while addressing the gathering , said that the current recession will push the largest masses of the country towards starvation on one hand, while on the other hand it may also serve as an eye opener for a large no. of young boys and girls who had nearly taken for gauranted , a good future via the ‘growing’ IT, banking, aviation, and real estate ‘industry’ which had been projected as the new ‘pillars’ of development by the govt. and the corporate. But with exactly these pillars collapsing, the dreams had been shattered. He further said that, during every similar industrial crisis in the past the govt. and the industry always held workers and their unions responsible for the crisis, but this time the crisis has hit the IT, Financial, Real Estate, Aviation industry whose majority of young engineers, air hostesses and sales professionals had no experience of any union. And now, the govt. and the corporate are on another dirty game to mislead the country by dubbing the crisis as ‘temporary’ and ‘ the result of mismanagement’ whereas the real picture is that the capitalism has no rational way out of this. All the measures being taken by them, like, the employees shunting, CRR cut down and bail out etc. are simply heading them towards a more severe crisis and at the same time treacherously diverting the public money into compensating the losses of the corporate. Those who advocated privatization when it was the question of drawing profits from the economy are now advocating ‘nationalization’ of the corporate loss. He appealed to the youth that it is the time when they should reject the policies of the govt. and come out of their comfort zones to build a strong revolutionary movement which can put forward an alternate model of development in front of the whole country.
Speakers at the protest, also criticized the truthfulness of the economy leaders like Montek S. Ahluwalia, who had been assuring the country that the US Financial crisis cannot affect the Indian Economy whereas their statements have been falsified within two months by the recession avalanche hitting India since last few weeks.
one of the leaders of the local team of RYA said that they will very soon mobilize the common youth as well as the professionals and students form the IT, Business Management, Aviation, Banking etc of Bathinda to oppose the UPA govt.’s shortsighted and bankrupt path of development
Also present at the gathering were: Gurpreet Singh, Rampal, Jaswinder, Mithun, Sandeep, Gurprem, Mr. Mallhi, Taranjeet Singh , Dinesh and many others boys from engg. college Bathinda, Malwa colleae, D.A.V. college .
