The India Post Team, Punjab, 12 June :Nehru Yuvak Kendera (NYKS), Fatehgarh Sahib organized One Day Sensitization Program in association with State AIDS Control Society, Punjab at village Isherale. NYKS working with rural youth for the holistic development of the society. In this training succinct information pertaining to HIV/AIDS and STIs/ RTIs to 35 youth leaders from different youth clubs of Khea Block participated in this Program under NACP-III, GOIs.
On this occasion Mr. Parmjit Singh, District Youth Coordinator, NYK advocated the role of people for community development through all the organs of the society reference is of down trodden / have-nots. He motivated the people to come together to root out various diseases engulfing poor and down trodden people. He also talked about the role of volunteers and established people in community development.
Dr. Angrish, Distric Health Officer Fatehgarh Sahib in an interaction she discussed about HIV/AIDS, its origin, threat and causes. He highlighted details of the disease and precautions required to avoid this disease. He also removed different myths and misconceptions about HIV/ AIDS proliferation. In his talk he stressed upon the role of the community for the rehabilitation of the People Living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA). He also highlighted the various programmes continuing in city related to HIV/ AIDS prevention and STI treatment under NACP-III. He appreciated the efforts of NYK Volunteers in motivating and zealously bringing down the misconceptions related to AIDS and STIs in unorganized rural sector.
On this occasion Dr. Avnish Jolly, Resource Member NYK attracted the attention of listeners towards the relation ship between child abuse and HIV. He said that child abuse at any level should be checked as it may leads to HIV/ STIs and can hinder maturation of children. Special attention has to be paid towards HIV infected and affected Children. He also talked about community development issues related to infected and affected Children.
Ms. Meena Vij, Founder and Former President, Chandigarh Network of Positive People attracted attention towards the rights of infected and affected widow women and stressed for pensions and other social security instruments to be granted by the concerned states. She appreciated the efforts of certain NGOs and stressed that FXB India Surksha Model should be implemented at village level. She hailed the sincere efforts of FXB India Surksha and NYK.
