CHANDIGARH, December 17: Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee president Capt Amarinder today said that the National Herald case pursued so vigorously by the BJP was a classic example of political vendetta.
He asserted that entire party was with the Congress president Ms Sonia Gandhi and the vice president Mr Rahul Gandhi on the issue.
Talking to reporters at the Congress Bhawan here today, Capt Amarinder pointed out, this was purely an internal matter of the Congress party. “If this is not vendetta by the BJP then what is the locus standi of its leader Subhramanian Swamy in pursuing the case so viciously and so vigorously”, he asked, while adding, “has he ever raised similar questions about the functioning and the dealings in his own party”.
The former Chief Minister said, the National Herald case was one in a series of such vindictive and vendetta cases unleashed by the BJP government at the centre on its political opponents.
He said, similarly other senior leaders including P Chidambaram and his son and Himachal Paradesh Chief Minister Virbadra Singh were also being implicated with a clear vindictive motive.
He also referred to the alleged foreign account case raked up against his family members when the HSBC Bank authorities had said way back in 2012 that they had no account in the bank.
To a question on the CBI raid on Delhi Chief Minster’s office recently, Capt Amarinder said, this was again part of the vindictive and vendetta policy pursued by the BJP government.
