BJP national secretary Tarun Chugh has slammed SAD leader and Rajya Sabha member Naresh Gujral for his ‘arrogant’ remark against the BJP and alleged that the Akali leader was bent upon weakening the alliance between the two parties.
Claiming that Naresh Gujral neithe knows the facts nor understands the sanctity of the relationship between the BJP and the SAD, Chugh said that it would have been better had Gujral asked his party patron and chief minister Parkash Singh Badal before issuing a statement aimed at damaging the alliance.
He reminded Gujral that Badal has been hailing the BJP and union ministers for cooperation to Punjab. The CM and the deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal, during their visits to the capital and meetings with the union ministers have been heard on the issues of Punjab and funds of hundreds and thousands of crores have been already been sanctioned to the state for development. Such achievements have been announced by the CM, the deputy CM and Ms Harsimrat Kaur Badal on various occasions and at various platforms.
Reacting to Naresh Gujral’s remark on land bill, Chugh said Gujral must know that the land ordinance and bill were duly approved by the union cabinet which includes SAD representative and senior leader Harsimrat Kaur Badal, who is a cabinet minister. He said that the decision to bring land bill amendments cannot be termed as a decision of the BJP but it is a collective decision of the cabinet of NDA government.
Chugh said that it was wrong on the part of Naresh Gujral to term BJP as ‘arrogant’ as the relations between the Badals and top BJP leadership were quite cordial and union ministers have been giving due respect to chief minister Parkash Singh Badal.
Citing recent cordial meetings between union ministers including sh Arun Jaitly , sh Rajnath Singh ,sh Vain kaya naidu sh Nitin Gadkari , and BJP president Amit Shah, Chugh said that Naresh Gujral’s statements were purely out place and just an attempt to hit the decades old alliance of BJP and the SAD.
