By Pardeep Luthra,Gurdaspur Sep 12:-Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan under ministry of youth affairs and supports, Govt. of India launched a Nation vide my earth my duty campaign along with the joint efforts of United Nations Development Programs (UNDP), United Nations Volunteers (UNV) and Zee TV to save the environment by planting more than one crore saplings through out the country on one single day which created a sort of record as this campaign finds mention if the Limca Book of Records.In this connection campaign was inaugurated by National Vice Chairman Amardeep singh Cheema launched the campaign by planting more than 10,000 saplings in model block, Batala with the active support of Nehru Yuva Kendra Saangathan, Distt, Gurdaspur along with youth clubs, National Youth cops Volunteers, Mahila Mandals and more than 110 Rajiv Gandhi Woman self help groups and representatives of various Panchayati Raj Institutions and social organizations.
This campaign started at 8:00 AM with more than 700 vehicles and motorcycles was jointly flag off in the morning from Raja Palace on Kahnuwan road, Batala by Mr. M.M Cheema, Permanent invitee Punjab Pradsesh Congress Committee (PPCC), Mr. Sucha Singh chottepur, former minister and chairman Rural Development cell, PPCC, Mr. Bhupinder singh Randhawa, Chairman sports and culture cell, PPCC, Mr. Puran Chand pyasa, Patron Samajik Chetna Manch, Batala.
This long convoy led by Mr. Cheema in a open Jeep first marched through the Kahnuwan road and G.T Road on foot where youth volunteers carrying banners, saplings and hand bills travelled through 76 villages of Batala Assembly segments covering Naushehra Majha Singh, Bidhipur, Satkoha, Sekhwan etc. which was widely welcomed by more than 3 dozen Gram Panchayats and social organization, NGO’s and youth clubs welcomed this on the way and served langars and tea throughout and concluded at Gems Cambridge School, Batala at 4:30 PM where all the media persons also attended the concluding function here today
