By Vivek, SAS Nagar, July 7: The Department of Health & Family Welfare Punjab; Generation Saviours Association and Union against T.B. & Lung Diseases here today organised a state level advocacy workshop in the Muncipal Complex, Mohali. The workshop was inaugurated by Sh Satpal Gosain, Health & Family Welfare Minister, Punjab and Sh N.K Sharma, Chairman Planning Board Mohali presided over the event.The objective of holding the workshop was to create further awareness regarding Tobacco Control amongst the representatives and participants including officers from various departments, NGO’s and social organisations. He informed that district SAS Nagar will be the first smoke free district in the state. Dr Ashok Nayyar Director Health & Family Welfare stated that sale or consumption of tobacco within 100 yards of the education institutions is prohibited and offenders can be fined up-to Rs 200/-.
