MOHALI, APRIL 12:As many as 1500 tickets of different denominations were sold today for the Indian Premier League to be played at the Punjab Cricket Association Stadium here. Out of these, 1200 tickets were signed by Bollywood star and co-owner of Kings XI Punjab, Preity Zinta and Australian fast bowler Brett Lee. Three hundred tickets were sold through online.
Priety and Lee launched sale of tickets for the 'home matches" amidst carnival and fanfare. These flim and cricket stars were personally selling the tickets at the makeshift counter put up at the tennis courts of the PCA Stadium.
The tickets of different denominations– Rs 50, Rs 250, Rs 750, Rs 2000, Rs 3000 and Rs 7000.
Preity Zinta said told newsmen that response to purchase tickets was very good and overwhelming. "Even ladies turned up in a sizable number to purchase tickets. I have never watched a Test match. But the 20-20 version is more accessible to the general public. Three-hour entertainment is attracting families," said Preity Zinta.
"Brett Lee and I are happy to be among the people of Punjab to sell tickets for our home matches and cheer Kings XI Punjab which will be led by icon Yuvraj Singh. Australian Tom Moody is coach of the team," said Preity.Regarding prospects of winning the trophy, Preity was confident that Kings XI Punjab would emerge winner in the inaugural eight-team Indian Premier League.
Brett Lee said "it will be great to share the new ball with Indian fast bowlers Sreesanth and Irfan Pathan. Our efforts would be to win the trophy. I am enjoying the 20-20 version of cricket. I love the Indian culture and people."
Hoping high expectation from Kings XI Punjab,Tom Moody said the team was a heady mix of leading national and international players.
Meanwhile the Kings XI Punjab team members have reported for coaching camp. The first day was devoted for fitness tests.
