The India Post, Mohali, October 26, 2008 :OSSIM, the premier Institute of Security Management in India celebrated the Fifth convocation ceremony here at Mohali with great fervor. Mr. G. S. Pandher, IPS, former DGP, NSG and BP R&D was the chief guest. The ceremony was also witnessed by the distinguished Industry heads, Ex-Defence personnel’s and Private Security Industry Heads.Speaking on the occasion Mr GS Pandher congratulated the trainees for having successfully completed the course, and emphasized that the sustained success would depend upon their remaining focused on their profession and job. He thereafter drew from his experience and guided them, as to how to plan their day to day activities.
This convocation ceremony marks the successful passing of the Fifth course of forty-nine Security Trainee Officers who have sought a career with M/S Vedanta Resources PLC, trained at OSSIM, Mohali.
Vedanta Resources plc is a London listed FTSE 100 diversified metals and mining group with revenues in excess of USD 6.5 billion. Its principal operations are located throughout India, with further operations in Zambia and Australia. This is first time in India wherein an Industrial house has invested in security in this manner. The 49 Trainee Officers have successfully completed the theory part of their diploma over four months for 49 Trainee officers selected from all over India. They now move for the ‘On the job Training’ at different locations of Vedanta Resources for eight months.
OSSIM has imparted training to the Trainee Officers on similar pattern as of the armed forces covering the theory part, physical and mental robustness and the most important soft skills. The training has been very scientifically measured and has shown amazing results in the development of trainee officers. OSSIM has written history in this field to train first class graduates in security and intelligence management making a new line of career for the youth of India.
Various awards were also given. Namely, best in academics, best in physicals and best all-rounder, by the chief guest.

OSSIM has already geared itself to brace next batch of Vedanta which includes not only trainee officers from all over India but also ten trainee officers from Zambia. OSSIM has also been signed up by Directorate General Resettlement ( Min. of Def.) for carrying out 10 weeks courses for its officers seeking relocation to the civil stream.
