23 Sep : Gian Jyoti Institute of Management and Technology, Phase- 2, Mohali, celebrated NSS day under the banner of NSS unit of GJ-IMT. Students and Volunteers of NSS unit of GJ-IMT organized the function. On the occasion Mr. Gurdeep Singh Bhatti, Assistant Program Advisor, Ministry of youth affairs & Sports, Chandigarh was chief guest . The function began with the Deepshika ceremony followed by the NSS song “We shall overcome,”.
Speaking on the occasion Mr. Gurdeep Singh said that NSS is a permanent Youth Programme under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India since 1969. He also told that the NSS is the largest voluntary social organization in the world and it’s very useful for the student community.
Mr. J.S. Bedi, Chairman, GJ-IMT, on this occasion said that The National Service Scheme (NSS) believes in voluntary services by the college students taking part in community. The moto of NSS “Not me, but you” sums up its ideology. Mr.Bedi further added “The NSS provided a common platform to students to help the society which also helps in the development of a positive attitude .”. He encouraged the students to join NSS for social service. Mr Bedi said that Gain Jyoti’s NSS wing has always worked for the social services and it will continue work for social activites in future.
A slogan writing and poster-making competition was also organized to mark the NSS day. In the end, Mr. J.S.Bedi chairman GJ-IMT congratulated the winners and encouraged the NSS volunteers to spread the feeling of selfless service and to practice what they preach.
