ROPAR, April 29: Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh
today accompanied Congress candidate from Sri Anandpur Sahab, Manish
Tewari to file his nomination papers in the Deputy Commissioner cum
Returning Officer’s office, here today.
Besides the Chief Minister, Speaker Punjab Vidhan Sabha Rana KP Singh,
Technical Education Minister Charanjit Singh Channi, Animal Husbandry
Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu, MLAs Darshan Lal, Angad Singh, Chief
Minister’s son Raninder Singh and former Minister Jagmohan Singh Kang,
Laal Singh, DCC president Birinder Dhillon, Love Kumar Goldy, Nimisha
Mehta and others were also present.
Earlier, Congress workers organised a massive road show with hundreds of
vehicles and two wheelers which passed through various areas of the
Ropar city.
Tewari and
other senior leaders were standing atop an open vehicle. As the convoy
passed through different places, Tewari was greeted by people. Flower
petals were also showered at him at various places. Workers and
supporters stopped him at several places to greet him and click selfies
with him.
Later talking
to reporters after filing nomination papers, Tewari expressed his
gratitude to the Chief Minister and other senior leaders for
accompanying him to file his nomination papers.
He said, he was indebted to thousands of workers who joined his roadshow
and made it a spectacular success. Without their wholehearted support,
he added, it would not have been possible.
The Congress candidate said, he was touched and overwhelmed by the massive
outpouring of love and affection by the people. He said, he could sense
the mood of the people that was thoroughly in favour of change at both
the local (MP) level as also for the government at the centre as people
were fed up with the both.
“The people of Sri Anandpur Sahab have pronounced their verdict today about
the choice they were going to make on May 19”, he remarked, while
claiming that the writing was already on the wall that Sri Anandpur
Sahab will be part of the ‘mission-13’ of the Chief Minister, Capt
Amarinder.
