Dr. Avnish Jolly , LUDHIANA, May 10: Former Chief Minister and the leader of the opposition in the Punjab legislative assembly Rajinder Kaur Bhattal today said that the Congress candidate from Ludhiana parliamentary constituency Manish Tewari will win by a margin of at least two lakh votes. She said, the Congress wave had swept the state and the party would win all the 13 seats.
Addressing a largely attended public meeting in village Pamal in Dakha assembly segment alongwith the former minister Rakesh Pandy and Ram Partap Goyal said, vote for Manish was vote for Dr Manmohan Singh. She pointed out, the Akalis had no right to claim to be representatives of the Punjabiat as it was represented by Dr Manmohan Singh. He appealed to the people to ensure that Dr Singh was reelected the Prime Minister of the country which would do everybody the proud.
Meanwhile, the Congress candidate Manish Tewari today questioned the claims of the Akali leaders accusing him (Tewari) of not having done anything for the city or the constituency.
Addressing a series of meetings here today, Tewari observed, it is surprising that instead of asking their own representatives who represented Ludhiana so far, they were asking him although he had not got any chance so far.
Tewari also had a dig at the sitting MP Sharanjit Singh Dhillon who was boasting about having asked “two questions” in five years. “At least Dhillon admitted how inefficient and ineffective he remained in parliament by asking just two questions in five years”, he remarked.
He regretted that thanks to the inefficiency of the representatives Ludhiana remained neglected till date. “Otherwise a city like Ludhiana which is backbone of the industry and agriculture should have been placed at the top on growth and development index”, he pointed out.
He said, the Akali-BJP government ignored the interests of the farming community of state. He maintained that the ruling alliance was making futile attempts to mislead people of state by its false promises. He said that people have already seen the fate of promises made to them by Akali-BJP alliance during assembly elections, which remains unfulfilled till date. Tewari said that people of state are not going to trust the state’s Akali-BJP government and Congress is going to win all thirteen seats of state in these general elections.
These public meetings were held in Kocchar Market area (Ludhiana West) organized by Councillors Bharat Bhushan Ashu and Mamta Ashu and in Preet Nagar (Atam Nagar) by Councillor Gurdep Kaur Kaka.
