LUDHIANA, January 3: The Ludhiana MP and the national spokesperson of the All India Congress Committee Manish Tewari today condemned the killing of Nitin Garg in Melbourne yesterday. Nitin was stabbed to death near Melbourne when he was on his way to work.
Tewari talked to the External Affairs Minister SM Krishna and expressed serious concern over the security of the Indian students in Australia. He said, there had been an alarming increase in the number of attacks on the Indian students and a precious life has been lost.
The Congress spokesperson pointed out, the loss is irreparable and nothing can compensate the parents. Expressing his condolences and sympathy with the bereaved family, he said, he and his party stood with them at this hour of grief.
Tewari also spoke to Anita Nayar, the Counsel General of India in Melbourne. Tewari said, he was coordinating with the officials of the ministry of External Affairs and the counsel general in Melbourne to provide relief and other help to the family for bringing the body to India.
The 21-year-old Nitin Garg from Jagaraon in Ludhiana district was fatally stabbed in abdomen in a Melbourne suburb. Although he managed to stagger to the restaurant he was working part time, he could not be saved and died on way to the hospital.
