Jassowal (Ludhiana), November 14 : Shweta Rana of Himachal Pradesh (girls’ singles Under-16) and Ronit Bisht of Delhi (boys’ singles Under-16) won the titles in the Harvest Tennis Academy – AITA Nationals here today.
In the boys’ sngles Under-16 finals between Ronit Bisht and Digvijay S. Mehta of Himachal both the players slugged it out with no quarters taken or given. At the end it was Ronit who took the match as Digvijay broke-down with his ankle twist.
In the girls’ singles Under-16 finals Shweta gave no chance to Parathana of Maharashtra with her straight win over her 6-0, 6-0. It proved to be wake up call for Parathana but couldn’t make a comeback of sorts as it was too late. The set went against the serves most of the time. Shweta took the second set again at 6-0.
Mr Harvinder Saran, President, Harvest Tennis Academy, gave away the prizes to the winners and runners-ups. Ms Simmy Saran, Vice President, HTA, announced that the Academy will next be hosting AITA Super Series Tennis Tournament for Boys and Girls Under-14 and Under 16 (singles and doubles) from December 5.
