LUDHIANA, March 17 : Senior Congress leader and the national spokesperson of the All India Congress Committee, Manish Tewari today said that the whole nation wanted to reelect Dr Manmohan Singh as the Prime Minister for next five years for his outstanding performance.
Tweari, who has been drawing huge crowds in the rural areas where people have been promising him to return Dr Manmohan Singh as the Prime Minister of the country for a second term, pointed out, the Punjabis had higher stakes in Dr Manmohan Singh as he was the son of the soil, a true Punjabi to the core.
Tewari today visited different villages in the Gill and Dakha assembly segments. These included Hussainpura, Talwandi Kallan, Ladowal, Rajowal, Noorpur Bet, Khera Bet, Malikpur, Birmi, Ayali Kallan, Salampur, Issewal and Bhatian, where crowds thronged his rally.
Expressing his gratitude to the people for their overwhelming support, Tewari promised that once the United Progressive Alliance government under the leadership of Dr Manmohan Singh takes over at the centre, he would ensure that their problems are duly addressed to.
He stated that the Shiromani Akali Dal-Bharitya Janata Party alliance government in the state had wasted all the development funds either for personal constituencies like Bathinda, Lambi or Gidherba or had allowed these to lapse. He revealed that the Chief Mininster Parkash Singh Badal and his Deputy Chief Minister son Sukhbir Badal had diverted all the development funds and projects to Bathinda where they wanted to field Harsimran Kaur (Sukhbir’s wife) as the candidate in the parliamentary elections.
Tewari urged the people to compare the progress of the Manmohan Singh government with that of its predecessor National Democratic Alliance. The results are too obvious. He said, the country had achieved great heights in progress and development under Manmohan Singh’s leadership that is why everybody wanted him to be reelected as the Prime Minister.
