LUDHIANA, APRIL 10: It is official. The test flight between Ludhiana and New Delhi will finally be operated on April 13. This was disclosed by the local MP and the national spokesperson of the Congress Mr Manish Tewari here today.
Tewari, who has been lobbying hard for operating the flights from and to Ludhiana, said, he was told by the Director General of the Civil Aviation Mr Zaidi today only that the ministry had finally decided to operate the test flight on April 13. The regular commercial flights will start in the month of May.
Tewari said, the Airports Authority of India and the Air India had finalised the date for the test flight following which clearance will be issued for the commercial flights.
Sounding confident, a jubilant Tewari maintained that this was a long pending demand of the people of Ludhiana that despite there being an airport there were no flights to the industrial and commercial capital of the north India.
He hoped, after coming on the aerial map, the business in Ludhiana will get further boost. The people of Ludhiana will no longer need to go to Chandigarh or Delhi for boarding the flights as from now onwards they will be doing it next door only.
