LUDHIANA, AUGUST 22: Ludhiana MP and the national spokesperson of the Congress Manish Tewari today emphasised the need for promoting the girls’ education. He said although a lot of progress had been on this count but still a lot more needed to be done. Addressing a function organised at Shaheed-e-Azam Sukhdev Thapar Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Bharat Nagar Chowk Ludhiana to commemorate the birth anniversary of late Rajiv Gandhi, Tewari recalled the outstanding contribution of the former Prime Minister towards modernisation and computerisation in the country.
The day was also celebrated as the ‘vanmahotsava diwas’. On this occasion, eleven students from across the state who had topped in the plus two exam were also honoured on the occasion. Tewari also planted saplings in the school to mark the vanmahotsava celebrations. Tewari exhorted upon the students to ensure that they work and excel well in education as that would enable them to become successful in their life.
