LUDHIANA, AUGUST 25: The Congress workers took out a victory march in the BRS Nagar area to celebrate the election of the party candidate Hari Singh Brar in the yesterday’s by-election to the Ward 57. The jubilant workers passed through different areas shouting slogans in support of the Congress and the candidate.
A number of senior leaders and hundreds of workers participated in the march. They were led by Brar and others. The joy was visible on their faces as they had pulled off a coup against all odds particularly when the administration tried to play spoilsport by delaying the declaration of the result for the reasons best known to them.
Thanking people for reposing faith in him, Brar said, he would ensure to come to best of their expectations. “You have given me a great responsibility despite knowing that I belong to the opposition party”, he said, while adding, “but I will ensure that all your work gets done and none of the development projects in the area are delayed”.
He expressed gratitude to the workers and leaders for putting up combined and coordinated effort which ensured his victory despite misuse of power by the government and the administration. He said, he had no ill will against anyone and his doors would remain open for everyone, come what may.
Brar pointed out, a councilor belongs to the whole area and to all the people. “I am certainly a Congressman, but I will serve all the people without any bias or prejudice and would ensure that the areas progresses and develops well”, he promised.
Prominent among those present on the occasion included Surinder Dawer, Pawan Dewan, Malikt Singh Dakha, KK Bawa, Nahar Singh Gill, Sanjay Talwar, Dimple Rana, Rattan Singh Kamalpuri, Kartar Singh Katna and Hari Singh Brar.
