Ludhiana October 15- Punjab Chief Minister, Mr. Parkash Singh Badal has stated that state government has chalked out a comprehensive program to fully upgrade the development infrastructure in urban and rural areas in the state and had already sanctioned an urban infrastructure development plan of Rs 5500 crore, under which all the basic amenities including sewerage, water supply, roads, street lights etc. would be provided in all the cities of the state.
Mr. Badal was addressing the well attended gathering at Sangat Darshan Program at Jain Public School Benzamin Road here today.
Mr. Badal said that he had launched Sangat darshan Programs for the effective on the spot redressal of the problems of people at the grass root level in all parts of the state. He said that at these programs very useful feed back about the implementation of development and welfare schemes of the Govt. was being received, which help in making required changes in the programs as per the needs of people.
The Chief Minister, today presided over Sangat Darshan Programs at five places i.e. Mitter Sen Jang Ghar Field Ganj for ward number 36 and 39, Jain Public School Benzamin road for ward numbers 37 and 38 and at Trade Center Miller Ganj for ward number 44, Shiv Shakti Mandir Park for ward numbers 42, 43 and at New Shivaji Nagar for ward number 40, 41, 17 and 18. At all the Sangat Darshans, the people thronged the programs and presented their problems before the Chief Minister, who issued directions to the concerned Officers on the spot. The Chief Minister responding to the general problems relating to the development in various wards disclosed that a special plan of Rs 241 crore had already been sanctioned by the government to provide sewerage in parts of the Ludhiana city and assured that all the damaged roads due to recent rains were being repaired with fast speed in the city and more new deep tube wells as per the requirements will be commissioned to meet the potable drinking water need of the people. In all the five Sangat Darshan Programs, the Chief Minister liberally sanctioned development projects of roads, street lights, water supply etc. amounting to more than Rs 80 crores.
The Chief Minister said that earlier during his two days SD Programs, he had covered 22 wards in the city and issued grants of Rs 100 crores for the development works. He said that the people from all the wards were giving overwhelming response to the SD Programs and were fully cooperating with the government machinery in getting their problems solved.
During his first Sangat Darshan at Mitter Sen Jang Ghar, the Chief Minister redressed the problems of people from wards 36 and 39 and announced grants of Rs. 7 crores including Rs 1.12 crore for roads, 2.13 crore for water supply. He also asked the Commissioner MC to immediately provide a ramp near Jagroan Bridge for the traffic coming from Clock Tower side. He also announced grant of Rs 5 lakh for Computer Center for Dharamshala, 5 lakh for Aggarwal Sabha, 3 lakh for Mitter Sen Jang Ghar and Rs 5 lakh for Christian Community. He also told ADC to organize two days camp to prepare blue cards and completing applications for pensions in the area.
In the next SD Program at Jain Public School, the Chief Minister released grant of around Rs 4 crore as demanded by the Councilor ward number 37 Mrs. Poonam Ratra. The Chief Minister asked the Commissioner MC to immediately prepare a detailed plan for the covering of open sullage drain passing in the middle of old city, which was causing a serious environmental problem in the areas. He assured that all the roads and streets in the wards will be repaired on war footing.
The Chief Minister also asked SSP Ludhiana to introduce one way traffic in the area for the smooth flow of traffic, where ever was required. Reacting to a common demand of the construction of Senior Citizen Homes from different areas, Mr. Badal asked the Commissioner MC to suggest a suitable place for setting up of a high capacity Central Senior Citizen Home in the city, which could cater to the needs of whole city. He added that keeping in view the inadequate Infrastructure for the police administration, Mr. Badal added that government would provide sufficient land for setting up of Police Stations in the city.
In the 3rd SD Program at Punjab Trade Center in Miller Ganj, the Chief Minister cleared development projects costing to Rs 6 crores including roads project of Rs 4.51 crore. He also assured the Councilor of area Mr. Sarabjit Singh Kaka to shortly fulfilled all his demands highlighted in the welcome address.
In the SD Programs at Kidwai Nagar, the Chief Minister released grants of more than Rs 7 crores including Rs 2.15 crore for Sewerage and Rs 1.86 crore for roads in ward number 42 and Rs 1.16 crore for roads in ward number 43 on the demands of Dy. Speaker Mr. Sat Pal Gosian and Councilor Gurdeep Singh Neetu. In the last SD Program at New Shivaji Nagar, Mr. Badal cleared grants of more than Rs 8 crores for the development projects in wards number 40,41,17 and 18.
Later interacting with the media men, the Chief Minister said that the government had deputed Secretary level Officers to ensure the smooth and hassle free procurement of paddy in all the mandis and had stationed one MD of procurement agencies at the District Head Quarter to monitor the day to day procurement process. Mr. Badal strongly criticized the Union Government for announcing Rs 850 per quintal as MSP for paddy ignoring the recommendations of Agriculture Price Commission of Rs 1000 per quintal.
