Jalandhar, Oct 2. Indian Companies have to substantially improve the quality of their products to be competitive and acceptable in the international as well in domestic market, was the mantra to Indian of environmental activist Balbir Singh Seenchewal here today at the inaugural ceremony the three day 10 the National Convention of the Swadeshi Jagran Manch .
Addressing a strong contingent of 800 delegates of the SJM from Kashmir to Kerala. Seencehwal urged the industrialists to produce the best keeping the interests of the consumers and follow the best business ethics by keeping the minimum profits.
If the products are of international quality, not only Indian consumers would readily accept these but these would have demand in the international market too. He reminded that many Indian transnational companies were doing roaring business in the world over because of their quality products. And this quality has to be sustained and maintained to earn credibility.
Seenchewal also urged the Indian entrepreneurs to make massive investments in the agro –industries to ensure that the perishiable farm produce could be preserved.
Also, the environmental concerns must be protected and the present made race for comsumerism must be curtailed in the national interests.
Pleading for remunerative prices for the farm produce, Seenchewal said that ironically neither the farmers get adequate profit nor the consumers are offered farm produce at reasonable price area while the middle men corner the major gains. “While the farmers are forced to make distress sale of potatoes at Rs. two per kilo, the consumers get the same at Rs 10 per kg and the entire profit goes to middleman”, said Seenchewal who sought corrective steps in right direction.
Visibly upset over plundering of the farmers who often do not get returns equal to farm inputs, Seenchewal said that the plundering of the farmers must stop irrespective of the fact whether the exploiter is Indian or foreigner.
In his presidential address Industrialist Sharad Aggarwal said that it’s unfortunate that Indian Economy is still dubbed at developing economy though we have made rapid strides in the recent past and have been a self sustained economy since ages from the times of the Indus Valley Civilization.
Recounting the achievements of the SJM in recent past, its national convener Arun Ojha said that the government was forced to change its stance on BT Brinjal while its organizing secretary Kashmiri Lal warned of the sinister designs of the WTO and multinational companies to enter the Indian Retail market through backdoor.
