Amritsar May 3 :It was like a rain shower of ‘gayaki’ –music and song at the Delhi Public School premises today on the occasion of an “Inter DPS vocal music festival”. The festival included the best of SUFI singing, Geet-Ghazal, Bhajan, Sawan and Holi Geet categories.
DPS Chandigarh won the ‘overall Trophy’ at this festival, while Host DPS, Amritsar took the second position.
Earlier School Priincipal Mrs Sangeeta Singh extended a floral welcome to an eminent panel of judges, comprising Dr. Arun Mishra and Dr Vivek Verma .As many as 8 schools of DPS participated with teams from Jammu and Kashmir along with teams from Bathinda, Chandigarh, Rajouri, Pinjore, Amritsar, Manali and Jalandhar.
While the host team from DPS Amritsar bagged the ‘top position’ in Group song, DPS Chandigarh stood second and DPS Bathinda took the third position.
In the solo category DPS Chandigarh again became the top scorer to clinch the first position, DPS Bathinda stood second in solo while host DPS Amritsar bagged the third position.
Among other dignitaries, Mr. Ajay Maheshwari member school management committee also graced the occasion. He blessed the students and appreciated their endeavor and urged them to continue with music as an integral part of life.
The Principal described the evening as a soul stirring experience for the students as well as audience. She further added that these programs truly proved that Music is the mediator between the spiritual and the sensual aspects of life. And that music plays an instrumental role in inculcating virtues and getting rid of vices and social evils.
