GURKIRAT MURDER : Police say Prince Makkar, Sunny stayed at a farmhouse near Chandigarh before surrender
Barinder Saluja, Chandigarh/Jalandhar,April 26 : The killers of a Hotelier, Gurkirat Singh Sekhon from Jalandhar, surrendered in the local court on Friday, but did not utter a word that who harboured the four accused for more than 24 hours after the crime…??? Though the suspects have not named anyone during their interrogation, which led to the recovery of the weapon used in the crime & the cell phones of the suspects, from the house of main accused, Akali councillor Ram Simran Singh Makkar, alias Prince Makkar, on Monday, police sources said that Prince Makkar and Sunny Sachdeva, son of lawyer Manmohan Singh Sachdeva, had sheltered themselves in a farmhouse near Chandigarh. They said that the other two suspects, Jasdeep Singh Jassu, son of owner of Regent Park hotel and Prince Narula, son of MGN Educational Trust chairman Gurinder Singh Narula, had boarded a bus to Amritsar to evade arrest.The police sources said that the suspects have not co-operated with the police and have not revealed the identities of those who helped them after the crime. Medical reports suggested that the hotelier Gurkirat Singh Sekhon had a scuffle before being shot dead from a point blank range by Prince Makkar, as a result Gurkirat died on the spot. “There are injury marks on both the arms & elbows of Sunny Sachdeva and Gurkirat which suggests that there was a scuffle between them. Both of them must have fallen on the road while overpowering each other,” said the investigating officer.

Gurdaspur Congress MP, Partap Singh Bajwa, on Monday, accused the Badals of using the state police as their “private army” to settle scores with opponents and thus “promoting lawlessness” in Punjab. Bajwa, who visited Rajbir Singh Sekhon, father of the victim, Gurkirat Singh Sekhon, at their residence to offer condolences, alleged that “lawlessness” in the state has reached its peak with Akalis going on “killing spree” under the “patronage” of deputy chief minister Sukhbir Badal. Bajwa added that he feared that the police might bury the case since Makkar’s and Badals were partners in the “illegal” quarrying and mining business in the state. The congress leader asked the people of Punjab to take the challenge and serious note of the activities of Badals and uproot the “corrupt” regime of them.

Adding to the voes of corruption by Badals in Punjab, Jassi Khangura congress MLA also targeted Deputy CM Sukhbir Badal, stating him as corruption plant of Punjab who bears the fruit as corruption; a plant whose roots are eating away the innocent people of Punjab. This tree must be uprooted.
