Gurdaspur June 15:- Former Education Minister Punjab Khushal Behl died after a brief illness at his residence last night. He was 87 and took his last breath at 11 PM. He was a diabetic patient.
Khushhal Bahl started his political career as a student leader from Lahore and joined the Indian National Congress party.
Firstly , He contested the election of Municipal Council Gurdaspur and remained its President.
The he represented Gurdaspur Assembly constituency and elected MLA for four times and remained a Minister for three times.
He had the privilege to work under the Chief Minister ship of Giani Zail Singh, S.Beant Singh,
Sh. Harcharan Singh Brar and Capt. Amarinder Singh. During his Minister ship he held the portfolios of Medical Education, Industrial Training, Jails, Labor & Employment, Higher Education and School Education.
In the Organization too, he worked in the various capacities from District Congress Committee to Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee.
He remained associated with many philanthropist organizations. He was the founder Chairman of the Gurdaspur Education Society and worked hard for the cause of education in the area.
By profession he was a farmer and he worked hard for diversification. He dedicated his life to social service. He was known for his honesty and integrity and fought for the cause of poor and down trodden.
Weaker sections of the Society were always very close to his heart.
He is survived by three sons Raman Bahl, Aman Bahl and Ajay Bahl.
With his demise the region has lost one of the tallest mass leader of the Congress party.
