CHANDIGARH, January 15: Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee President Capt Amarinder Singh today warned all the rebels to withdraw from the contest by tomorrow lest they be expelled from the party for at least five years.
In a statement issued here today, Capt Amarinder said, the party President Ms Sonia Gandhi was clear on the issue that indiscipline cannot be tolerated at any cost. He said, once the rebels are expelled for five years they will not be allowed to return for five years. “Ms Gandhi has made it clear that five years means five years”, he clarified.
The PCC President maintained that even if somebody wants to return after five years he or she will need to have a cooling period of further five years which means anybody expelled today cannot expect to return to party before five years and cannot get any party post for another five years.
Asking the rebels to withdraw lest it be too late, he pointed out, the Congress was coming to power and it will be unwise on part of the rebels to remain out of power as they have suffered the harassment and vendetta of the Akalis for last five years
