By Pardeep Luthra , BATALA 11 Nov : Tension prevails between sanitation employees and BJP, MLA Jagdish Sahni at Nehru gate, when a group of shopkeepers along with BJP MLA, Jagdish Sahni tried to lift the garbage from the market, which was opposed by the sanitation employees.
Seeing the MLA and his supporters lifting the garbage and filth, which has not been removed from the area since the last 8 days, the sanitation started raising slogans against the MLA and his daughter and Municipal council President, Ambika Khanna. But tempers went high, when Sahni’s supporters and the area shopkeepers started raising parallel slogans against the sanitation employees.
Seeing the shopkeepers supporting the MLA, the sanitation employees started stone pelting at the shopkeeper forcing them to close their shops and join the BJP MLA. Getting information, DSP, City, Sakatar Singh reached the spot with the heavy pose of police force and resorted mild lathi charge on the sanitation employee and forced them to flee from the spot. Later, Sahni along with the shopkeepers themselves lifted the entire garbage and filth, facilitating the passers to enter into the market.
It is also learnt that a sanitation employee was also injured in the lathi charge by the police and was admitted to civil hospital. In this regard, Sahni told that he did not force the striking sanitation employees to join their duty but the sanitation employees started threatening the residents, who engaged paid labourer to dispose the garbage and filth standing outside their shops and residence, which will never be tolerated. It is to be noted here that the municipal sanitation employees are on strike from the last 9 days, resulting every nuke and corner of the city is sinking with garbage and filth and dirty water accumulated in the low lying areas.
Two days back, the shopkeepers of the Chakri Bazar and Nehru Gate has engaged some paid labourers to dispose the filth and garbage standing outside their shops which was objected by the sanitation employees after which the shopkeepers had approached Jagdish Sahni, who assured that he himself will join them in their cleanliness drive.
This action of the M.L.A. clearly depicts that he has not the qualities, to take the works from the staffers, employed to do this cleaning job ect. ect.
Thus better should be that inculcate habit of working into the civic body employees instead of doing their job yourself, Mr. M.L.A.–dr.amritgaur
