By Pardeep Luthra, BATALA: Two fictions of BJP led by local BJP, Jagdish Sahni and District BJP, President, Vivek Modgil, respectively today join hands to seek ticket for BJP candidate from Batala, and announced that they will leave no stone unturned to make the state high command to drop the idea of allotting Batala assembly seat to the SAD.
In a press conference, Shani told that BJP candidates was fighting from this seat from the last 60 years and even won for 5 times. He told that the state high command was talking to swap Batala seat with SAD on the plea of groupsim, but through this meeting which was attended by all the local BJP leaders, he want to ensure the state leadership that there was no groupism in the local unit.
He said that under the alliance of SAD and BJP, the Batala constituency goes to BJP and BJP candidate won the constituency twice in 1997 and 2007 respectively.
On the rumors of Education Minister, Sewa Singh Sekhwan started making contact with the local BJP workers, Sahni told that Sekhwan had already lost his constituency Kahnuwan due to delimitation and he was creating such rumors of getting ticket from Batala but he should ensure that he had no political ground at Batala.
Speaking on the occasion, Vivek Modgil, told that he had already appraised the sentiments of the BJP workers through his 7 days long fast-unto-death and now through his joint meeting, he had ensure the state BJP leadership that all the BJP workers were on single platform, which will be depicted during the forthcoming BJP “Maha Rally” at Jalandhar.
It is pertinent to mention here that former District BJP President, Naresh Mahajan alongwith his supporters, remained absent from his meeting citing personal reasons.
