16 Nov :A platoon of 54 cadets (SD & SW) has been allotted to Swami Vivekanand Group of Institutes (SVGOI) under 5 Punjab Battalion NCC- Patiala at Ramnagar, near Banur. It is 1st & only Engg. College from Punjab, Haryana, J&K , H. Pgetting selected for NCC.
The selection of the Cadets has been made with the help of officers from NCC Wing Patiala. Colonel J.P. Singh, Commanding Officer, 5th Punjab Battalion, Patiala, interacted with the students and emphasized that the motto of NCC i.e. ‘Unity and Discipline’. He further said that the aim of the National Cadet Corps is to develop qualities of character, commandership, discipline, leadership, secular outlook, spirit of adventure and sportsmanship and the ideals of selfless service among the youth to make them useful citizen.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri Manmohan K. Garg, CEO, SVGOI said, "NCC has rendered valuable service to the nation by creating a reservoir of disciplined and patriotic young boys and girls. He said that the motto of NCC, ‘Unity and Discipline’, would lead them on the right path throughout their life.
Shri Ashwani Garg, Chairman SVGOI, opined that NCC teaches self and team discipline to the youth and it creates a suitable environment to motivate youth to take up a career in the Armed Forces, as they are the future of our nation, so it is their duty to fulfill the vision of our country of becoming a developed nation.
Prof. I.K Kataria, Managing Director, SVGOI motivated the Cadets as NCC help to imbibe a habit of discipline even in routine life. He further hoped that NCC cadets who have come together will remember this voyage and will carry a message of peace and unity.
Principal, SVIET said that NCC is necessary "to create a human resource of organised, trained and activated youth, to provide leadership in all walks of life.”
