To honour women’s empowerment on International Women’s Day, Aryans Business School (ABS), Vill. Nepran, Chandigarh-Patiala Highway organized a declamation contest on the topic, "Women as a Business Leader: – The Need Of The Hour".
To portray the power of women in the corporate world, students gave presentation on Biography of various business leaders which included Indra Nooyi (PepsiCo); Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw (Biocon); Vinita Bali (Britannica); Naina Lal Kidwai (HSBC, India); Chitra Sood (Microsoft); Ketki Gadgil (Yahoo); Dr. Swati A. Piramal (Nicholas Piramal);
Dr. (Mrs.) Parveen Kataria, Deputy Director, Aryans Business School (ABS) said women are better performance-oriented, competent, dedicated, enthusiastic, consistent, gritty, diligent and lively than their male counterpart which is why they are racing ahead in corporate world than men. The notion "women cannot compete with men in corporate world" has been proven false by great women business leaders like Indra Nooyi, Shilpa Sharma, Ketki Gadgil etc. She also stressed on the importance of women empowerment in the society and need to learn and get motivation by these business leaders.
While presenting on the topic "Women as a Business Leader", Ravigeet, one of the MBA students spoke about Indian born American businesswoman, Indra Krishnamurthy Nooyi, President and CEO of PepsiCo, 4th most powerful woman in the world today and her story that lays emphasis on true values of life.
Speaking about Naina Lal Kidwai, CEO, HSBC India, and country head, HSBC Group Companies in India Sakshi said she is ranked 34th in the list of world’s top 50 businesswomen announced by the Wall Street Journal in November 2004.While speaking about Chitra Sood Staffing Director of MSIDC, Anamika said she has been with Microsoft for the past eight-and-a-half years and has been responsible for setting up various support facilities since the inception of MSIDC. Rupika, another MBA student, spoke on Meg Whitman, President & CEO, eBay Technologies, who is ranked 22nd on Fortune’s Most Powerful Women of 2006 list, she is steadily guiding one of the few dot-com companies.
Following 12 students including Roopika, Hemant Watts, Hemant Khurana, Karandeep, Riffat, Iram, Jasbir Singh, Gagandeep, Lakshmi Roy, Sakshi, Ravigeet and Anamika also participated in the event.
