9 Nov : Keeping with the tradition, Swami Vivekanand Group of Institutes at Ramnagar, near Banur organized its 3rd annual sports meet for two consecutive days i.e. November 7, 08 and November 8, 08. The premise of SVGOI was a hub of activities as 500 students participated in the annual sports meet. S. Kanwaljit Singh Toor, Director, Pearls Infrastructure Projects Ltd. was the chief guest of the programme and Ms. Prerna Saini (Hockey Olympian) was the Guest of Honour.
The programme commenced with the march past and unfurling of the sports flag. SVIETians displayed keen enthusiasm in athletic meet and indoor games like Shot Put, Discus Throw, High Jump, Long Jump, Table Tennis, different types of Race, Chess, Carrom Board, and Fun Games like Chaati Race, Tug of War, Spoon Race, Sack Race and many more conducted in the premise. Enthusiasm, zeal, encouragement and appreciation marked the atmosphere of sports meet of SVIET. The untiring commitments and enthusiasm of the participants, with encouragement and guidance from the faculty created tremendous opportunities for students to hone their talents.
Honorable Chief Guest S. Kanwaljit Singh Toor appreciated the endeavours of SVGOI organizing such a Mega Event useful for boosting and helping students for their overall development and physical fitness. He further added, “Sports and recreation activities provide opportunities for participants to unwind as well as to reduce stress that they find in our fast-paced society. It does not matter whether a person wins a medal or not, the will to take the extra and hard step to finish the race is a medal in itself”.
Shri Manmohan K. Garg, CEO (SVGOI), spoke about the importance of sports in not only ensuring fitness but also in teaching the important lesson of Teamwork and sportsman-spirit.
Shri Ashwani Garg, Chairman, SVGOI said “We encourage a balanced attitude to sports and games and we offer students the opportunity to take part in a variety of Sports and actively support them, whether they are interested in sports as a recreational activity or wish to pursue their interest at a more competitive level”.
Lauding the efforts and enthusiasm of participants, Prof. I.K. Kataria, Managing Director (SVGOI) congratulated the winners. He further added, “Sports serve the society by giving vivid examples of man’s achievement and excellence, of hardwork and perseverance, of team-spirit and devotion.”
