CHANDIGARH, January 10: Sant Baba Tek Singh Dhanuala today joined the Congress along with several supporters and Akali leaders. He was inducted into the party by the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee President Capt Amarinder Singh. Baba Tek Singh is a former SGPC member. He also remained a member of the SGPC executive committee and the Dharam Parchar Committee.
Talking to the reporters Baba Tek Singh narrated the details of atrocities committed on him by the police at the behest of the Akali-BJP government. He revealed that three false cases were slapped on him by the police and he was arrested despite a clear bail from the Punjab and Haryana High Court.
Baba Tek Singh revealed that despite the court orders once he was dragged to the police station and his turban tossed in full view of public and the media. “I was hunted and hounded by the Akalis as they wanted to wrest control over the Baba Gala Singh Trust which is now under their illegal occupation”, he said.
Assuring full justice to Baba Tek Singh, Capt Amarinder Singh said, once the Congress comes to power all those people who victimized him will be brought to book. He condemned the Akalis for victimizing everyone who did not succumb to their pressure including the religious leaders like Baba Tek Singh.
Others who joined the Congress today included Buta Singh Dhaliwal, Balwinder Singh Dugga both members of the Municipal Council Barnala,Kuldeep Singh, Harjinder Singh and Balwinder Singh Numberdar, all Akali leaders.
