Amritsar, July 29 (Prabhjot Gill) – Guru Nanak Dev University to encourage young scholars and to promote research has sanctioned rupees 25 thousand each to its five lecturers for a one year minor research projects for the year 2008.
Dr. S.S. Chahal, Director of Research said that this amount has been granted out of a Research Corpus Fund of Rs. 11.0 crores created by the University for encouraging research upto lecturer level.
Those teachers have been sanctioned Rs. 25,000 each for their minor research projects are Dr. Kawalpreet Bhatti (Applied Physics) for his project titled "Synthesis of Transition metal doped zinc oxide nanoparticles for spintronic devices"; Dr. Amarjeet Kaur (Microbiology) for her project "Cholestrol biosynthesis inhibitor from a movel fungal isolate optimization and strain improvement", Dr. Sarabjit Kaur (Pharmaceuticals Sciences) for her research project on "Pharmacognostic investigation & anti-anxiety activity studies of melilotus officinalis";
Dr. Pooja Chadha (Zoology) for her project titled "Studies on chromosomal polymorphism and c-banding pattern in acridid grasshoppers of Amritsar" and Dr. Puja Ohri (Zoology) for her project "Bioefficacy of brassica juncea (seed extracts) against Root-knot nematode, Meliodogyne incognita (kofoid & white) chitwood".
