SAMANA (PATIALA), April 7: Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) president, Capt Amarinder Singh, today said, the Akalis were scripting their own obituary by fighting with each other. He said, it was not only the war within the Akali Dal but within the Badal family as well. He said, this will not only finish the Badals politically but will also decimate the Akali Dal into smaller and splinter groups.Capt Amarinder was addressing a function organised to mark the death anniversary of former Samana MLA Hardial Singh Rajla. He pointed out, the Badals were involved in a deadly feud with the Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and his Deputy Chief Minister son Sukhbir Badal on one side and Manpreet Badal and his father Gurdas Badal on the other side.
The former Chief Minister pointed out, all of them were power hungry. He had a dig at Manpreet Badal saying on the one hand he was claiming to bring forward the youth and promote them on the other hand he had announced the party ticket for his octogenarian father Gurdas Badal. He remarked, Manpreet was like any other Badal best at befooling the people of the state.
Capt Amarinder expressed grave concern over the deteriorating economic situation of the state. He pointed out the economy was in total doldrums as the industry was moving out and the sources of revenue were dwindling. He said, this government had not given any heed to improving the economy and had instead gone on borrowing spree.
Questioning the claims of the government about initiating development projects worth crores of rupees, the PCC President challenged the government to show a single such project on the ground. The only progress they have made is about personal fortune by grabbing transport, cable and sand business.
Prominent among others, who paid tribunes to Rajla include, Minister of State For External Affairs, Perneet Kaur and former Punjab Finance Minister, Lal Singh and former Sangrur MLA, Arvind Khanna.
