Pardeep Luthra,BATALA: As many as three congressmen were injured, when a group of akalis allegedly attacked them with sharp edged weapons here at village Gujjarpura, on Saturday evening.
In this regard, the injured Charan Singh, who was admitted at civil hospital, told that during the last concluded assembly elections, his family had wholeheartedly supported congress candidate Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa, which became a cause of dispute with the akali’s living in his village.
He further told that after the formation of SAD-BJP government in the state, the akalis started threatening them with dire consequences and last evening a group of akali armed with sharp edged weapons barged into their house and attacked them, in which his son, Baljeet Singh and brother, Amrik Singh was seriously injured.
Getting information, the Ghiana-Ke-Banger police rushed to the spot and took the injured to civil hospital Batala.
When contacted, SHO, Ghiana-Ke-Banger, Sukhinder Singh, he told that the injured party had not given any statement. Thus they were waiting for the statement after which, case will be registered against the guilty persons.
Condemning the attack on his supporters, Qadian MLA, Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa told that the akalis were trying to create terror through such cheap tactics. He said that if the police did not take any strict action against the guilty akalis, they will hold a demonstration.
