“All India Women Conference” a national NGO for upliftment of women and children today organized a camp on consumer rights for its inmates and people of surrounding areas of its Sharifpura locality.
Mr Deepinder Singh advocate of consumer court, as resource person and guest speaker, at the event, explained about the consumer rights and the ways that customers are cheated.
He talked about substandard products, services and goods that come under the consumer protection act and explained about exercising caution in purchasing , including watching for quality, design, utility, quantity, price, etc. of the product.
“Due care be taken to insist on a cash memo or receipt as proof of purchase. Along with this, warranty card must bear signature and stamp of seller. The consumer must look for standard quality certification marks such as ISI, Agmark, Woolmark, FPO, etc and be cautious about misleading advertisements.”
Mr Deepinder informed that Central Government had launched ‘Eco- Mark’ scheme which ensure that production process and use of environment friendly materials of the product.The consumer goods included under this scheme are packaging materials, edible oils, toilet soaps, detergents etc.
He emphasized that there was strong protection for NGOs in consumer courts.The advocate was honored with a memento by AIWC President Mrs Rajni Bhrany. Earlier, He was offered a floral welcome by Patron Mrs Ranjeet Chatha, General Secretary Mrs Prem Duggal, and other noted personalities present.
