Bhoa , July 4: The Punjab Congress Legislature Party chief Mr Charanjit Singh Channi today called upon the Aam Aadmi Party to ask its MLA Mr Naresh Yadav to voluntarily join probe into the sensitive case of sacrilege of Quran at Malerkotla in which he has been named by the accused, Vijay Garg. He said going by the reports, the relations between then was just more than being of acquaintances.
He maintained it was too well known a fact that the present ruling dispensation in general and Deputy Chief Minister Mr Sukhbir Singh Badal was known to resort to vendetta politics but in this case, the issue was very serious and it concerned peace and harmony. It was in the interest of Punjab that Mr Yadav joins the investigation and in case he was proved innocent, the charge of vendetta politics would be further reinforced that could do big damage to the ruling combine with few months to go for the polls.
Channi pointed out that their relationship had been revealed further during the questioning of some more persons who were known to Garg but have not been named in the sacrilege case.
Reacting to the youth manifesto released by Delhi Chief Minister and AAP convener Mr Arvind Kejriwal at Amritsar yesterday, the CLP said it betrayed total bankruptcy of the party at the level of ideas and it had now been exposed that it had been only misleading the people in the state in general and the youth in particular. He questioned AAP as to which of the promises made in the manifesto was original as these were the issues that had first been taken up by the Congress including that of smashing the drug cartel in one month.
Mr Channi said the outsiders who were dictating the party in the state had no knowledge of the reality at the grassroots and their only qualification was of being masters in hoodwinking people in the name of providing alternative model.
He asked Mr Kejriwal to tell the people of Punjab as to what he meant by alternative politics and model of development as this manifesto belied all his claims. He asserted the party had been exposed at the release of the very first installment of its manifesto about which so much hype had been created.
Others who were present on the stage included Sh Ashok Chaudhary, Sh Anil Vij, Sh Raman Behl, Sh Balbir Fathepuria, Sh. Rumal Chand, Sh. Joginder Singh, Dr Pankaj Rai, Rajesh Kumar, Sanjeev Bains, Kuljit Saini, Mehr Singh Thakur, Raj Kumari, Vinay Mahajan, Raman Bhalla and many other senior leaders of the constituency.
