By PardeepLuthra,Batala Dec 26:- District administration Gurdaspur has all arrangements to conduct fair and free Punjab assembly elections in the disdtrict.
The decision to this efftect was taken at meeting held under the chairmanship of district returning and deputy commissioner Mohinder Singh Kainth at Panhcayat bhawan today.
Kainth said that the notification regarding the forthcoming elections would be issued on January 5 and candidates can file their nominations till January 12. The scrutiny of the nominations would held on January 13 and candidates can withdraw their nomination on January 16.
He said that returning officers have been deployed in all seven assembly constituencies as Tejinder Pal Singh SDM Gurdaspur has been deployed as returning officer for Gurdaspur assembly constituency where as Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) Satish Washisht for Dina Nagar(Reserve),Assistant Excise and Taxation Commissioner Baldev Singh for Qadian constituency, Paramjit Singh SDM Batala for Batala constituency, District Development and Panchayat Officer Ranbir Singh Mudhal for Sri Hargobindpur (Reserve) constituency, District Transport Officer Jasbir Singh for Fatehgarh Churian constituency and SDM Dera Baba Nanak Jasbir Singh for Dera Baba Nanak constituency respectively and two each assistant returning officers have also been deployed for each assembly constituency.
He said that a total 10,74,662 including 557348 men and 517278 women voters would exercise their right of vote in all seven assembly constituencies in the district. A total of 1293 polling stations have been set in the district which including 226 in urban and 1027 in rural areas.
Deputy Commissioner said that additional security forces and Punjab police would be deployed in all constituencies to ensure free and fair elections. District administration has identified 657 sensitive and 152 hyper sensitive polling stations in the district.
