14 Sep : Hundreds of devotees from all walks of life congregated industrial town on Tuesday to take part in various programmes to mark the 523rd marriage anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev, the first guru of Sikhism.
A marriage procession led by ‘Panj Piaras’ (five beloved) was started from Gurdwara Dehra Sahib, where Guru Nanak Dev ji stayed along with baratis, and terminated at Gurdwara Kandh Sahib where marriage was solemnized, after passing through several places in the city.
Earlier, the ‘barat’ (marriage party) of Guru Nanak Dev arrived in Batala from Sultanpur Lodhi in Kapurthala district late night.
The recitation of 101 series of Akahnd Path (religious hymns) which started three days ago, was performed Tuesday morning.
