2 Mar : Jammu Police in its drive against black marketers, hoarders and swindlers has unearthed a major scandal of diverting and selling cement in the open market meant for the construction of Govt. Buildings.
Last night on specific information Satwari Police spotted a truck bearing Registration No: JK02AA-7968 from which the cement was being unloaded. During verification it was found that 150 Bags of cement was loaded from the store of Police Housing Corporation, Jammu and was issued for the construction works of Dy. Commissioner Office Samba. However, the cement was diverted by the driver Tilak Raj to Babliana who had struck a deal with Rash Paul S/O Thoru Ram R/O Gangyal to sell all the cement bags @ Rs. 200/- per bag. Both the persons were arrested and Case FIR No: 28/2009 under Section 407/409 RPC was registered for further investigation to unearth the whole scandal. The involvement of the other Officials of the Police Housing Corporation in this scandal is not ruled out. Any official found involved will also be arrested and booked under law. The indent book and Challan Book of the PHC Store were today seized and all the records are being scanned to ascertain and nab the other culprits responsible for causing loss to the state exchequer by resorting to corrupt and illegal practices.
